Lifelong artist Laura Betti receives the gift of creative flow from her surroundings—the mountains of Aspen, Colo. Her ideas come during long trail runs or winter skins through the woods. The power and energy of mountains bring her perspective on what concepts are most salient to communicate.
The artist’s current interest spans from the effects of modern society on humans to the effects of humans on their surroundings. After considerable research, Betti distills her subject matter into text, using poetry and philosophical and historical perspectives. Betti then meticulously transfers the text onto the canvas using delicate pen and ink lines, which then make up the larger composition.
