2024 Gear Preview: Lange XT3 Tour Light 130

It looks like it would be a great hybrid boot you could use for the resort. But then get one glance at its badass rockered Vibram lugs (damn!), and you’ll know this beast is meant to hike. Look a little closer at its specs and you’ll see it’s only 1,450 grams (size 26.5), lighter than all of Lange’s predecessors (they’ve released increasingly light and equally skiable new touring boots every season for the last three years)—giving us the sneaking suspicion that this will be a total sandbagger when it comes to the uphill. It has 53 degrees of motion for walking, a 130 flex, and a 99 mm last. It may be pricey, but in a category that is defined by compromise, this new boot might be close to the holy grail: Hike to the summit and have enough gas left in the tank—and a boot you can lean into—to actually enjoy the turns you earned. It also comes in a women’s version at a 115 flex. (For women who want just as much stiffness as the boys’, check out Tecnica’s women’s Zero G Pro. It’s not new, but it’s super badass.)
