Search and Rescue’s Perspective: Backcountry Travel During COVID-19

Contemplating a backcountry ski tour? Colorado Public Radio interviewed local search and rescue teams to get their perspective and advice on backcountry travel during the COVID-19 crisis.

Right now, they advise reducing the risk and consequences to you and those in your community, especially search and rescue teams. According to Dawn Wilson, a public information officer with the Alpine Rescue Team, “It’s kind of like going to a community pool with no lifeguards. If you feel safe, do it. But if there’s any doubt in your mind, you may want to stay out of the water.”
