Avalanche Canada Launches Flexible Forecasts
This season Avalanche Canada introduces new software that will allow their forecasts to more accurately reflect backcountry conditions. With the new flexible forecasts, the regions will be dynamic, with boundaries that change in response to conditions. This addresses a significant problem with the old system, where conditions could vary significantly across large, fixed forecast regions, thus making it difficult to accurately communicate risk and forecast.
