Skier Shares Lessons Learned from an Avalanche Accident

Out of respect for the victims and their families, Powder Cloud generally refrains from publishing stories about avalanche fatalities. I’m making an exception in the case of Adam Campbell, who recently wrote an account of the day his wife, Laura Kosakoski, died after being buried in an avalanche at Banff National Park. This moving story, shared on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, took tremendous courage to write.

Campbell hopes that by sharing this “someone can learn something that may save them from enduring the horror that we, as well as our families and friends, the search and rescue crew, the first responders, and the medical staff, have endured.”

I’m hoping we can all take a few minutes and put some good energy and thoughts out there for everyone who was involved.
