Jessica Leahey is a full-time, self-taught artist and freelance illustrator based in Revelstoke, B.C. Much of her inspiration comes from the intersection of contemporary culture and the natural world—and her lifestyle is pivotal to accurately studying and portraying that paradigm. Deep powder, flowy trails, good coffee, and love… What else is there?
She grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where the culture deeply imprinted her storytelling. Chasing the snow, she moved west when to Banff, Alb., where she fell in love with mountain-town life and the gritty, passionate, people who lived there. She worked at Sunshine Village where she met her husband, Troy Leahey, and they relocated to Revelstoke in 2007 when he took on the role of head avalanche forecaster for the newly developed Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Jess is a hairstylist by trade and has done every ski-bum hustle from entrepreneurship, to housekeeping, to ski coaching, to waitressing, to retail. She eventually found her art practice through injury recovery, and has been on a new, more creative path ever since.
